Mark Knopfler will play again at the Poble Espanyol in Barcelona on July 31st. Four months on the road, from May to August, that will be the first opportunity for fans to hear live tracks from his upcoming album, Tracker, released in March and which is introduced by the first single "Beryl".
On this new tour, Mark Knopfler will be performing with a seven-piece band most of whom have been working with him for the best part of two decades; Guy Fletcher (keyboards), Richard Bennett (guitar), Jim Cox (piano), Mike McGoldrick (whistle and flute), John McCusker (fiddle and cittern), Glenn Worf (bass), and Ian Thomas (drums).
Mark Knopfler returns to Spain after his successful tour of 2013 when he presented Privateering. This time Knopfler will introduce Tracker (Universal), his eighth solo album from a sequence that started in 1996 with Golden Heart. The new album also contains guest performances from Ruth Moody, Bruce Molsky, Nigel Hitchcock and Phil Cunningham.
A multiple Grammy award winner Knopfler continues to combine his wry lyrics with his guitar prowess and has created such major hits as “Money For Nothing”, “Sultans Of Swing”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Walk of Life”, “What It Is” and “Sailing To Philadelphia”. He has collaborated with many other artists such as Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Randy Newman, Van Morrison and Emmylou Harris, as well as scoring several films including Cal, Local Hero and Princess Bride.
