Ani DiFranco, one of the greatest values of alternative music scene in America, is back to Spain with two concerts at the end of summer, before the release of Allergic to Water, her next album. Arena in Madrid will host the first show on Saturday, September 6th, and the 7th she will play at Apolo in Barcelona. Shabsi Mann will be opening Ani's Spanish shows.

The tickets are already available through www.doctormusic.com and www.ticketmaster.es, also at Fnac, Viajes Carrefour and Halcón Viajes, by phone at 902 15 00 25 and through the usual sale outlets from Ticketmaster network. Ticket price is 23 Euros (booking fees not included).

Born in Buffalo, New York in 1970, Ani DiFranco is one of the most significant singer and composer of the alternative scene. She use her voice and her guitar as honestly and unflinchingly as she could, writing and playing songs that came straight from her own experience, her boundless imagination, her sharp wit, and her ever-more-nuanced understanding of how the world works. Ani DiFranco bet for self-publishing in 1990 and she released her first album from her own record label, Righteous Babe Records, defending creative independence and artistic freedom.

After 20 years in the music biz, she still proudly identifies as a folksinger, but her understanding of that term has always been far more expansive than a bin at the record store or a category on iTunes. Over the course of more than 20 albums, including the live double CD Living in Clip (1997) and the two-disc career retrospective Canon (2007), Ani has never stopped evolving, experimenting, testing the limits of what can be said and sung. Her latest release, Which Side Are You On? marks DiFranco's first studio album in more than three years. The collection features 11 new songs alongside a radically reworked rendition of the classic title song, famously popularized by the one and only Pete Seeger nearly five decades ago, but no less relevant today. Elsewhere, Ani tackles some of the many crises that are currently confronting the nation and the world, spanning environmental disaster, government inaction, and a culture hooked on comfort and acquisition at any cost.
