TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE!
‘A very special evening with The Walkmen’ is the title for the next concert series of the New York band. The group will visit us in early June to present their highly expected new album, ‘Heaven’. They will offer a unique show in Spain, on Saturday June 9 at The Círculo de Arte in Toledo, an amazing scenario for that promised special night.
The Walkmen tickets are already available through www.doctormusic.com and www.ticketmaster.es, also at Fnac, Carrefour, by phone at 902 15 00 25 and through the usual sale outlets from Ticketmaster network. Ticket price will be 23 Euros (booking fees not included).
Formed in 2002 by members of indie rock bands Jonathan Fire*Eater and The Recoys, The Walkmen soon were outstanding among the crowded New York garage scene with their debut album ‘Everyone Who Pretend To Like Me Is Gone’ (2002), attracting attention because of their freshness and vintage instrumentation. If this first album focused on sonic exploration, their next album, ‘Bows and Arrows’ (2004), solidified their sound and provided the best-known theme of the band and, for many, an indie hymn, ‘The Rat’. It was followed by the albums ‘A Hundred Miles Off’ (2006), ‘Pussy Cats Starring The Walkmen’ (2006) and ‘You and Me’ (2008) which returned them to the top, being described by Pitchfork as ‘the great sound they have always wanted’.
In 2010 The Walkmen showed us their latest production, ‘Lisbon’, preceded by first single ‘Stranded’. 2012 brings them back to Spain, with a tour that will coincide with the launch of ‘Heaven’, a new album which has been released on May 29, just a few days before their arrival in Toledo. The Walkmen are Hamilton Leithauser (vocals, guitar), Paul Maroon (guitar, piano), Walter Martin (organ, bass), Peter Bauer (bass, organ) and Matt Barrick (drums). We expect an exquisite show in a unique setting, an ancient Mudejar church where The Walkmen will sound even more special. Highly recommended!
